Orpington breed thread

Hello, introducing myself. I am hatching chicken and other birds in incubator. Earlier this year I bought 19 Orpington eggs, but only 7 were fertile and out of them only 2 hatched. I sold the chicks. Right now I have 9 Orpington eggs in the incubator, unfortunately 2 embryos died, so I am hoping to hatch 7. They told me they are Black Orpington. On Sept 12th I will be setting more Orp eggs, but the person told me they are some Blue Orp? How many variations there are?

I'm not sure myself. Google may be able to help with this. Me? I'm going to cross my buffs with a red ranger and call it an orange orpington

OK, I googled about the colors.. The original colours are black, white, buff, blue and splash. Although there are many additional varieties recognised throughout the world, only the original colours are recognised by the American Standard, the Buff being the most common colour.

Is there a more recent/active Orpington thread? If so could someone point me in the right direction?

Writing for a new member that asked me about Silver Pencilled Orpington. Do they exist in the States and if so where might someone locate decent quality?

Thanks

There aren't very many active Orpington threads.
This is your best bet - well, probably.
Just invite all the people you think would like to join (or have Orps) and maybe this thread will get going again. :)
