Orpington Roo or Pullet? New pics added!!!

jmhappycowboy has black/blue orpingtons too and he is not sure whether she is black or a dark blue due to the lacing on the feathers. Will try to get better pics tomorrow and post again. But thanks. We all learn so much in the process don't we.

marie....I'm guessing pullet and if she's blue, she's dark . I also noticed the lacing which is dark also. I don't think she is black, all my blacks show no lacing.

I think she is a dark blue...blacks won't have lacing....

Edited to add...sometimes in blue/black/splash standards the black will be a washed out black til they get 4 or 5 months then their green sheen will start to show...she looks to have lacing but that can be the camera doings too.....

No there is no green sheen at all. She is a very muted black color. I will go try to get a better picture of her and will post it. The fact that she is a girl is great news whether she is black or blue. I hope she is blue though. Thanks again.

I would say she defiantly a pullet. I've never seen a dark blue like that, I bet she would make pretty babies!

Here's my Black Orp., his name is Blue

Here are some pics I just took. The sun has started going down so there was no sunlight to mess with the picture, and I tried a couple different settings to try to show the true color.
