hello! Well i have wanted orpington's for a long time and now i am getting them. I acquired a young pair of lavernder and 3 eggs (have them in the bator right now)
Also picking up 7 buff chicks in april!!!!!!!

Great! That's 100% hatch rate. They must not have been shipped eggs. Fingers crossed they are girls. At five weeks I'm still hoping I have a girl. They sure grow and feather out slow. You can try the feather sexing. The wing feathers are different lenghts on the females. Long, short, long, short... Long, long, long... On males. I think I have that right. There is a youtube video that shows how to do it.well, just an update, I was able to hatch out my 3 lavender orpington eggs last night and today! have 3 beautiful chicks!!!Hoping they are all 3 pullets!
Thank you! Yeah, they were not shipped. I got a young pair of lav. orpington's off a guy that raises them. The pullet is crippled. I didn't have to take here but fell in love with her. She has a crooked neck. Anyway, he gave me 3 lavender eggs and a coronation sussex egg. the sussex egg didn't developebut now I have 3 beautiful lavender chicks!!!!Also I am picking up 7 buff orpington chicks in a couple weeks from a hatchery near my house.Excited to see what I can do with these birds, have wanted them for a long time!
