My bet is on Welsummer...the box they came in probably said dark egger so they assumed they were cuckoo marans maybe?!?

They look alot like speckled sussex chicks,but lots of chicks look like that. Speckled sussex do not in any way lay a dark egg,so I'd rule them out if that was the claim they made.

I found out today that Orscheln's got them from Estes Hatchery. They do sell Welsummers, Speckled Sussex, and Brown leghorn.

Ah, I guess I'll have to wait and see what color their eggs are if any are pullets....

So far Welsummer's is winning in guesses.
