Our 1st casualty: Suspect Bald Eagles BIG NEWS!

This is why so many raptors get shot on sight. Someone sees a hawk or eagle somewhere in their neighborhood, a bird goes missing, and they are immediately on the internet falsely telling the world that an eagle killed their bird. How many people read this site? Now they'll all seen a headline that a Bald Eagle killed a duck. Not all of them are going to read through the thread to discover that the eagle had nothing to do with it.

The majority of raptors will not bother your flock. Most of them aren't big enough to risk attacking a chicken. The ones who are big enough usually have some other game that they prefer.

The few that are big enough and have also learned to hunt chickens can be defeated by some simple fencing.

There is absolutely no reason to go around shooting every hawk or eagle you see just because they might go after your birds.
