Our Egg Hatching thread! Hatch: Nov. 7th (Hatching Video PG 57)

Aaaagh. I will stop now until day 18 when I need to take the turner out. Day 12 incubation pic!

Sounds like everyone is doing fairly well with their eggs.

Can't wait to see all of the fuzzies!

I went out and bought a 50lb bag of chick starter yesterday. Found out we have a Tractor and Supply store about half an hour from us. Kids rolled their eyes when I told them where we were going, but when we got there, they quickly decided they rather liked the place.

And here's an interesting fact. Three people in a Honda Fit leaves enough room for three crammed bales of wood shavings to be wedged into the car.

pbjmaker, I'd erase it but I tend to be rather strong with my erasers (darned artists), so I'm gonna leave it be for fear of cracking the shell. And it may yet quit on me. They all might. So until they hatch, "Maybe" seems like a good title.

Don't want to get my hopes up too much! Thanks for the compliment on the photo!

Cass, your photos are fabulous. I am just using a light box with a regular light bulb, so I don't get that kind of clarity in my candling. I've got to get a good LED flashlight that doesn't get so hot.

I'm now past the point of hopeless - I actually DREAMT about hatching eggs last night. Specifically, the eggs that are currently in the bator! Although, it was more of a nightmare than a dream as during it one of the "bad" eggs exploded! The exploding egg was so powerfull that it crushed and killed one of my almost grown babies and made four others pop out of their shells early. They were teeny tiny but healthy.

This isn't good is it? Dreaming about hatches probably means the men in the white coats are coming, huh?

Help....

ETA - Skeeter, thanks for the suggestion on how to keep the eggs from rolling during hatch. I never would have thought about pipe cleaners. Brilliant!

Lol I had lots of dreams about my last hatch alot of small things went wrong and I didn't think any would hatch.
I had a dream though that 2 of my silkie eggs hatched and they were black.
What wierd is they were the ones that didn't hatch out of the 11 eggs in there. I opened the shells and it turned out that the silkies WERE black.....weird.

I am trying to get my hatcher stablized for the two silkie eggs that should hatch Friday or Saturday. It is a homemade bator that takes a while to get back up to temp once opened. I hope to set the eggs in there and just leave it shut. Otherwise I don't know what to do with the two eggs that are ahead of the rest.

I have such bad luck hatching silkies...
As in they never hatch for me!
