Our First Eggs!

there's nothing for scale
A quarter is always a good scale item.
Congrats and Enjoy!

Chances are your newly laying pullets will lay thru winter,
it's about light(length of day) not temperature, tho they may slow a bit.
But ya never know with live animals.

Lovely eggs! At least 8 of my 12 pullets (hatched in May) are laying.
So far we're only getting one at a time. We know for sure that our barred rock (Annabelle) is laying because we've been around while she's "in process" We think the speckled sussex (Speck) is laying because she went into the nesting box and kinda bragged about it and nudged out a little .. Maybe we'll get more than one a day here in the next little bit. It's very exciting though ... and I thought I'd be like "Meh ... eggs" lol

My 3 year ol Buff Orpington laid today and she's not laid in over 2 months. Guess she didn't want the EE to be the only star! Down to 1 freeloader.:celebrate
