Mabel, Pearl & Mildred went outside in their newly built "play pen" today. We have been working hard over the weekend to get their play pen & their coop finished. The coop is actually still in progress. I must say I'm ready to get their dusty little butts in the coop and out of my bathroom.
LOL They had a grand time! They weren't sure at first (See photo). It was like "you go! no, you go! I'm not going let's get Mabel!" They finally came out sort of waddling at first until they became sure of the grass. Then I snipped a bunch of herbs and tossed them in there and put their yogurt and grapes plus water and they were happy! I even had a hummingbird come down and hover over their play pen checking them out. They turned their heads sideways trying to figure out what this buzzing little creature was. They chased flies which was hysterical and played snatch and run with everything they found. I picked tomatoes and watered plants and a few other chores outside and then sat with them a while. When they went back in their box and sat down, I figured they need a rest so I brought them back in to their clean tub. They are so cute, so comical and I am enjoying them so much! I just wish my Granny, who had chickens all my life, was here to see this.

First Outing Hummingbird visit!
In their inside home, until the coop is built, they have learned they fit through the lattice holes I have propped against their bathtub abode so they come through it sometimes. They've also been "perching" on the side of the tub (it's completely covered with tarp) so I put a 1x2 across the tub to see if they'll perch on it. Anyway, just thought I share the girls first outing. Thank for looking and Enjoy!
