Yeah, becoming egg bound can happen any time of the year, it's very common in production layers too, I had two RSL die from it this summer.

I’ve never lost a chicken to predators (please don’t jinx it), just diseases. Cancer, egg yolk peritonitis, Merek’s, etc. But never lost a girl because she was egg bound.
