No, it wasn't. My sister has lent us her incubator and it didn't have a working thermostat so I went and bought one at Aubuchon hardware that had a thermometer and hydrometer Springfield Comfort monitor. When we locked them down at day 18 I thought they looked a couple days delayed, but I was hoping it was just inexperience and I was wrong. I wasn't. Before we set this batch of eggs I bought two digital, One has a wireless outdoor monitor as well. I put all four in there during my set up and trial run and the three new ones are w/in 8 tenths of a degree. and all were reading 6-7 degrees higher than the one I previous used. I figured with it being brand new it couldn't be that far off, right? I guess I got my answer. I will never rely on just one thermometer for incubating ever again!Yikes! 6 degrees? That's a lot. Was it the thermometer that came in the 'bator? I've read a lot of people saying those are often completely unreliable. You'd think that incubator manufacturers would have a bit more interest in making sure they were at least somewhat accurate. I mean, why even bother including a thermometer on them at all, if they just put in ones that can mess up people's hatches so badly? It fairly boggles the mind.![]()
