My back hurts just looking at breaking up that rock!

We did that on Saturday, that night my body was pretty tired, last night my whole body hurt as it is with any workout it's worse on the 2nd & 3rd day! Hopefully we won't have to do anymore of that, but I'm not going to hold my breath!

The area my house is on, was a former quarry. Can't dig more than an inch without hearing the screech of the shovel against boulders. Folks here used to line their driveways with them, till they accidentally ran over some and ruined their tires.

The area my house is on, was a former quarry. Can't dig more than an inch without hearing the screech of the shovel against boulders. Folks here used to line their driveways with them, till they accidentally ran over some and ruined their tires.

The wise man built his house upon the rock... Our foundation sits on a few boulders too!

I took a panoramic picture of the rock in the back corner of our property, you can see where it starts and you can kind of see where it ends all of the way to the back fence in the chicken pen! We are getting ready to plant Watermelon, Honeydew, Crenshaw & Pumpkins back here, these will be shared as an occasional treat for our flock! We decided to clear a path so that we could do mow the weeds down, so we took turns pounding some of the rocks that were in our way with a sledgehammer (my body is so sore...lol), while they look small on top, they are to big to dig out!

Okay.... check this out! I have five broody hens ... and I do not have enough jail space for that! So, I put them in the “extra” yard I have that is also attached to their coop... remember, they have a coop/run with a yard attached... this one is just an added yard for when I want to sit with them so they do not use this yard regularly... but it is perfect for locking the broodies out of the coop and separate from everyone else as the non broodies need access to the coop so this works great so long as it doesn’t rain.... anyway.. one of my Cochin bantams (Cutie) has figured out how to get back to her nest!! Almost impossible.. but apparently not for her!! The first time she did it I searched for her everywhere and assumed she got scooped up! No, she was in the nest!! Well, this morning I put them out in the extra yard and twice today she made it back to her nest!! Well, the third time I guess the net caught her! I think that she is jumping to the roof of the coop then flying down into their yard!! She was stuck! And calling for help... Chickens be CRAZY!!
