Our Mixed Flock Journey!

We just got home from our trip and I headed straight out to check on my chickens...one of my Buff Orpington hens is gone...I don't see any place where anything might have dug under the fencing and I don't see any sign of feathers from her. All I can think is she might have flown over the top of the fence and something got her...

I just found her wandering outside the pen! I don't know where she was earlier, they all come running whenever I call them...looking for a treat! I'm so relieved that we don't have a predator on the loose!

We are also getting broken eggs...Here's my biggest egg so far 65g and it looks like it's been pecked...I don't know what's going on! My son said he brought in 7 eggs today and 3 were broken! I don't know what the other two looked like, my son said he tossed them and missed seeing that this one was broken!

For the first time ever, I've been having the same problem. I've been trying to get out earlier in the day to pick up eggs before the crazy birds get to them, but aren't always successful.

Wow! So glad you found her!! Weird that your BO flew over as they are so big... but I guess they are still pretty young so still on the smallish side.. my BO took a good year and a half to get to where she is now! She’s huge!

Thank you! Yeah, that's all I can figure she did. I think she's the smallest, I'll be glad when she's too big to get off the ground.

She's big, but she is pretty! I've always read how people-friendly they are...do you find that to be true with your girl?

My other 2 BO are big like that and they are quite friendly! The little escape artist is a little more people wary...lol! I might clip her wings until she gets bigger!

I also placed a bowl of ice in the rabbit hutches, hopefully it will help them to cool down a bit! Daphne seems to be enjoying hers!
