Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Today is a video day! I'm enjoying my flock and the last of our warm weather...it's supposed to hit 69 today...it's still windy, but not cold! I went out for a cruise around the chicken pen and everyone had to follow...even the big boys...many of them right under my feet! :love Sorry if I made anyone dizzy by swinging the camera around, I wanted to get them all in there and I wasn't panning as slow as I thought I was...lol!
Also an update on the roosters, I believe Maximus has taken over as head rooster...my husband said he saw him chase Roo 2 all of the way to the far end of the pen the other day and I saw him put the run on him today! This is what I thought would happen.

If your name is Maximus, you should be in charge. 😆

Thanks for sharing the video. I needed that this morning.

I guess everyone has their way to deal with their leaves. I have a good mulching lawn mower. Everything that grows and falls into yard/lawn gets mulched. Excellent soil buildup.

I do it multiple times, and it all disappears into soil.
I do have good size campfires, but leaves create unnecessary smoke.

That is a bunch of leaves to mow up! Bonfires & hotdogs...they do go together...but where's the marshmallows & chocolate? :D

You know thinking about this I'm wondering, is it hunting season there? It is small game season here and the people that like to eat rabbit are out obtaining their own wild ones. Your timing could be very bad on this bunch. That may be adding to the depressed market.
Yes, small game season opened in September. I don't really think there is a lot of rabbit hunting here, I know there is some, but in the area where I live, people are more into upland bird & waterfowl! Still, that could be part of it, but I think it's mostly that the people that wanted to get started with rabbits have already done so and that's why the market is slow! :)

Exactly...that's partly why I gave him that name...I had a feeling one of the FBCM would eventually become the leader!

You're welcome...I love how they follow me around, especially when I've already given them their morning treat, so I'd like to think it's not only about the food...:D

I know it was dove season recently but not sure about small game. I remember something about not hunting wild rabbits in months with “R”s because of worms or disease or something

We make smores when there is a larger gathering around campfire. Unfortunately 2020 had no large family gatherings at all. :hit
2 other things we like to do at campfire. Baked potatoes:drool, and baked apples.:drool
we simply wrap large potatoes into foil, and place into hot coals/ashes. When done, we simply slice in half and dab a generous quantity of sour cream inside. Eat with a spoon.
The apples, we use a apple slicer. Remove the core, and fill center with brown sugar, and raisins. Wrap in foil, and bake . Not long at all.

Writing this just made me HUNGRY for some baked potatoes and apple dessert.:drool:drool:drool

Somehow outdoor cooking around a campfire tastes different than food cooked inside the home.:thumbsup Must be the atmosphere aspect.:idunno

Yummy...:drool the apple dessert sounds delicious and you can never go wrong with fire roasted potatoes. I agree food tastes so good over a camp fire! Either wrapped in foil in the coals or in a cast iron pan. My mom just gave me her cast iron pan...I can't count how many batches of fried potatoes, chicken & fresh caught trout have been cooked in this...so many yummy memories!
