Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Good morning all! I hope everyone is having a great day. It looks like Spazzy decided she'd spent enough time being broody. She was out running around in the free range pen with everyone else today. I will check later to see if that's still the case.

I wanted to share a picture I took yesterday and a little local geography. This is Rattlesnake Mountain, I see it every time I drive to town, there is also a huge herd of Elk that we see on a regular basis in this location...I saw them yesterday, but they were to far away to get a picture of. It's the tallest treeless mountain in the contiguous US. I thought it was pretty with the snow on it, but of course the picture doesn't do it justice!

That is fantastic! What I call *Big Sky* country. :D

Thank you IM! :hugs 💗 We're waiting for my fil to decide if he wants to make the trip or not. I think he'll be sad if he doesn't go! I talked to my daughter & she told me from her experience, she probably won't make it. I kind of knew that already as soon as we heard they were putting her on comfort care.😢
Thinking of you. :hugs The waiting can be terribly hard too. Hope everyone is happy with any decisions made.

Yeah, there are not many tree's growing naturally in my neck of the woods. It has it's own beauty, which I like! I took another picture when we were coming home with the horse trailer, showing just how far you can see, but again the picture didn't do justice to the view I had!

Thank you Jehane! :love So far dad doesn't seem to be willing to travel that direction...which is sad in my opinion, but this is about him and we will support him with whatever he decides to do!

Everyone is different. When my dad died [stroke] I gave all the kids the option of saying goodbye ~ even the 8 yr old. They all took the opportunity but my nephew, a little older than my 8 yr old, refused to know anything about it. Roll with the flow as best you can. :hugs

This is one of the most correct statements anyone can make...we are definitely all different! Thank you... 💞

I certainly had a full day today, working on our kitchen & my craft room. When I was finally ready to call it a night...I heard a rooster crow. I opened a window and listened...first I heard a neighbor's rooster & then I heard one of mine answering. I shouldn't have heard him so clearly, if he was in the coop. So, I slipped on a sweater & my chicken boots, grabbed a flashlight and headed out to see what was going on. I looked in the coop first & there were only 6 in there. Evidently something happened to the power & the automatic door closed before everyone had a chance to go in. So, I picked them up one at a time and placed them on the roost bars. This is what happens when I don't go out & check on them every night! Also, Spazzy is still broody...I knew it was too good to be true that she'd come to her senses...

What kind of automatic pop door do you have that closes upon power failure??
I have Ador1 and its battery operated.
It's one that my husband built probably 20 years ago! It works great except for the weird occasion when the GFCI trips off.
