Not sure how long I’d last wearing all that... it’s already pretty hot here..but that would be a good idea! I am surprised at how afraid of him that I am though... but I am a huge ninny when it comes to possible injury!
I think it’s making me realize that I don’t like sharing my flock... I had thought about another ‘con’..... it seems that all the gals that were here before TRUMP are very social with me... but his two sisters that grew up with him and the Brady Bunch that came after him have nothing to do with me! So maybe that’ll change if he’s gone...

The attachment to the rooster and not you is very true and only natural. He is after all a rooster and you are not. If you remember, Hattie was very close to Jabberwocky and did not come near me for a long time after Jabber was gone. But the good news is that she did eventually. Patsy and Lilly never stopped liking me.

That's one thing that has me nervous about the Legbars that I'm getting, I doubt that they are vaccinated. Coccidiosis is easy to combat with medicated feed, but I don't know what to do about Marek's.

Can you not get them vaccinated on your own?

Marek's disease vaccine should be given to chickens on the day they hatch, typically in the hatchery. It is given by an injection under the skin on the back of the neck. Once the chicks leave the hatchery, they have probably been exposed, and the vaccine is less effective.

While older birds can be vaccinated, it is usually not effective as they will have received a natural challenge by then (Marek's disease is one of the most ubiquitous diseases in the world).

Good morning Kat! Love your mug... I'm using my regular mug today...hubs let me sleep in and when I went to the kitchen he had it sitting by my hot pot with a teabag in it!

My husband almost made my heart drop into my stomach this afternoon! He'd just gotten home from golf and I told him thank you for having my tea cup ready. Then he told me he was sorry, but he had some sad news for me...he says "a hawk got one of your Buff Orpington hens"! I was very confused because I had just been out to the pen and I was sure that I had seen all 3 of them...I asked him where, he said it was on the edge of the lawn by the driveway, when he left for golf this morning. We immediately went to the pen so I could do a head count...thankfully all of mine were there. The one he found must have belonged to a neighbor as it wasn't one of mine! I'm sad for the hen, but so relieved that it wasn't one of my girls! That also would have been a long way for a hawk to carry one of my plump ladies!
