Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Hi everyone! I haven't been doing much today and typing is kind of difficult! I know this is going to sound weird, but I have a couple of mosquito bites on my right hand and it's very swollen and a bit painful to use! I can't believe the reactions I'm having right now. I don't know what's changed in my body, because I never reacted like this before. I'll check back in when the swelling goes down!

Chances are it was different mosquito breed.
I read few years ago about the types of common mosquitoes around here. The most aggressive type supposedly did not carry much disease transmitting potential. Some of the others, while seldom biting,, did pose the dangers.

That could very well be. I read that people develop what is called skeeter syndrome (which is what I'm dealing with) when they visit different countries, because their body hasn't developed immunity to the mosquitoes in a new location. I've always gotten bit way more than my husband, but never had this kind of reaction. My kid's would swell up when they were younger, but grew out of it as they became more immune to the bites. The only thing I can think of being different for me now is having had the Covid vaccine & having a strong reaction to that. I will probably never know for sure. I can't sleep because of the swelling and itching, I've taken Benadryl & rubbed cortisone on it, but I haven't gotten much relief. I'm currently icing my hand, which makes it feel better, but once I remove the ice it starts driving me crazy again...oh well...this too shall pass...lol!
