Our New Coop!!! pic heavy - Updates Post #93

Quote:
knock on wood - haven't seen any predators around the coop area - I know we have a coon eating for DH deer feeder about 200+ feet away - I know that their are coyotes, foxes and a few hawks in the area but we have had no trouble - I have a talk radio that the volume is adjusted daily to warn off predators.. yes - I have a heavy gauged wire that runs about about 30" and is buried about 2'

We also have a lot of hunters out behind our 10 acres - I am just hoping they are shooting the enemies....

If you have coons, they will find your coop. And they can climb & cause all sorts of destruction. Chicken wire stands no chance, just so you know.
Awesome setup, BTW!

just wanted to update some on coop pics - we've done a few extra things this spring

~added a duck pen
~rocks and sand in the run (drainage is great)
~added a grass pit in the corner
~rain barrels to catch rain water for the garden and flowers
~a sitting perch in the run, a tree branch (that is the best find my son found for them!!!)

the pavers look dirty but they are actually wet... it was 95 degrees outside today and with the wet pavers and fan running it helps keep it cooler for them.

I would be the happiest chicken owner in the whole wide world if I had a set up like that.
