We have a new Silkie rooster. He is a super nice boy! We have him in our chicken shed with our 7girls (2Rhode Island red, one of which is the head hen. 3 goldenbuff nice girls, 1barredrock sweet girl, 1black australorp :she the second feisty one.
Our rooster has his own space, but he hides in the corner of our shed when the girls are in there. How can we make him more comfortable?

How many days have they been together and how old is he and the hens?

It does take time for them all to become acquainted. He should come around in a day or two. If it's been longer, is he being picked on at all?

They are approximately a month or two apart. They have been in same facility three days and we moved him into the chicken shed in a medium dog cage on day three. We let the girls out to free range on and let him roam around in the chicken shed by himself. Day four we did let the lady's in while he was in there and two of them did charge toward him but we stepped in and made those two go back out and him and the others enjoyed worms together. We did put him in his cage and once everyone went to bed we opened his door so he would be able to roam around. Should we keep him separate again or should be separate the two hens that are at the top of the pecking order?
