Our School's Poor FFA Project Chickens

Yeah I’d definitely go for the smaller one first especially since it really is not that much smaller and is plenty of room for two!! That gives them 4 sq ft per bird which is usually the recommended amount anyway and especially with them being smaller breeds like Leghorn and Sexlink as opposed to big, heavy, dual purpose breeds and with them having a run too, they should be fine!!!

Also I gotta say... those poor animals! :hit :(

I am glad you are rescuing them!!!

And I know it shouldn’t be your responsibility or maybe you already did this but have you checked on the other animals too like the goats and turkeys to see how they are doing? If the chickens are this bad, the other animals probably are too. :(

UPDATE: Our school's administrators are taking care of it. They sent the ag dept chair (who doesn't oversee FFA) to the farm this afternoon. And now the teachers have to have a maintenance schedule. Also, a few rescue groups gave been contacted. Hopefully they will get taken care of, which means euthanasia for some of them.

But keep an ear out for anyone who wants free layers. There were still ones who would make great flock additions with some better nutrition.
