Outside bunnies

Gypsy2621,

I could have the name mixed up, but I thought that is what the breeder who gave them to me called them. Here is a pic of my Jasper, he is such a sweet boy. The first pic is from the summer, so he was only 3 months old. The second is from last month.

Bheila, you are so lucky that your males tolerated each other, mine will mount each other and you know......, well, anyway, they are awful!! I did not know that rabbits do that to each other. They have drawn blood as well. I wish I had your luck! I have to let each out for a couple of hours each day. Some days if we are gone all day, they don't get out at all and I feel bad.

I did not know we would have to do this with when we first got them. Do any of you have individual pens for your bucks or do you do the same?

Thanks!

yea bheila

I guess I was....cause I got rabbits and never knew anything about them...maybe that is why I did well.....I didn't question it at all, just put them together and they got along fab!

Agreed that is definately a Silver Fox, Not a cross breed, so no Giant in it at all.
He should wweigh between 10 and 11 lbs.

These are baby Fox right around 4 months old but you can see they are the same rabbit you have.

ETA:
He is a very nice looking rabbit,
He has even silvering and a nice overall body, I can see in the second picture he would actually be show quality.
Are you in Wa state? there is some wonderfull breeders in Ca with pure breds if you should decide to raise up endangered Silver Fox.

hi meggars
I have no good reason why all my boys got along so well.

I had a big wood rabbit tractor. They had a small dog house in there with hay for shelter. They were in the pen together from day 1 of being little.

Yup, they would mount each other, and then run and jump and go insane and all that but they never fought. Never had an incident...why I don't have a clue.

When I got them and to this day, after reading these posts, I didn't even know bucks would fight each other..LOL. I got them, threw them together and they lived their lives fine.

Maybe it was cause there were no gals around. Nothing to stir them up? And when they passed I got 2 more boys cause I never wanted gals, in case of babies.

I don't know why my guys never did anything?

But they were penned in a long rabbit tractor and it gave them space to get away from each other and then I would let them out to run around in a penned in big area.

I got no explanations at all for why I was lucky and never had problems...LOL

Could you make more runs-like a big square with 2 dividers to make 3 runs? If you do, I'd just make sure they are very secure. It's great that you work so hard to give them out time. I breed and show, and most of my bunnies don't get to do this very often. Kudos to you

Hi again,

So, for those of you who have outside buns and have them as pets, how much time do you spend with them. Sometimes it is hard to spend the time with them everyday, and I wonder how this effects them? I try not to push human emotions onto my animals, but I wonder if they get lonely. They have each other out there for company, but we only go out a couple times a day. I have tried to bring them in, but they end up peeing all over because they smell the other bucks. They are all pretty sweet, except for Henry, our Lionhead, he is soooo naughty. Have you ever heard a rabbit growl? He gets nasty. He is the only one who has successfully escaped the pen and went wandering around in the dark at night. Try to catch a rabbit in the dark! Not fun!! However, he still gets love because he really needs it:lol:, I just hope that the others are OK with the amount of time and love they get. Do rabbits require a lot of people time?

Here are my other three buns:

Henry the naughty Lionhead

Chopper the mini lop (look at his ears, that's why he is called Chopper)

That's exactly what I did, I didn't question anything. They were my first rabbits. I was just happy to be living on my own and I could get any animal I wanted. So dummy me I got 2 male rabbits. Now that I'm older and wiser I ask many many questions no matter how dumb it makes me look or sound, just for the sake of the animals
