My friend and I were at a fair, we were standing near a pen with some lamas in it. Two other people came up, looked at the lamas and said "Look! An emu!" We had to walk away we were laughing so hard.

don't you know that lamas and emus look so much alike it's easy to get confused?

Someone mentioned eyes falling out, made me think of this. It's an overheard story of an overheard story! A two-fer:

I was a kid, maybe 10 or 12. Sitting in the kitchen at my grandmother's drawing at the kitchen table and overheard this conversation between my mother and my grandmother, about a conversation my grandmother had with a younger-lady neighbor (following?):

Gram: "Sue, you wouldn't believe what Nancy next door said. She had left the bar the other night, and tripped and fell on her eyeballs."

My Mother (Sue): "Fell on her EYEBALLS?!?!"

Gram: "Yes Dear, that's what she said, she said she fell forward on the cement and landed on her eyeballs. I don't understand how she landed on her eyeballs either, it's puzzling. Wouldn't her nose have hit first? Wouldn't she have fallen on her NOSE???"

My Mother: "Ma, for God's Sake, have you seen her CHEST? Her chest would have hit the cement long before her nose or her eyeballs! <laughter between the two, for Nancy was notoriously well endowed>.... There is NO way her eyeballs reached further than THAT CHEST of hers."

Gram: <pours more coffee....> "Well, I don't know Dear, I just know she swears that she fell on her eyeballs, and now she's afraid she might have Thryoid trouble because her eyes are bulging."

My Mother: <spitting coffee> "What!!??"

Me: "Can I go outside and play Ma?" (I had heard enough of this story, yet I never did forget it, LOL)

I was at the Zoo, unfortunately on the same day as a bunch of students from some school was also bouncing through the Zoo. At the American farm display there was some Guineas walking about. I overheard the kids hollering to each other about the "Turkeys". (No, I didn't inform them, figured it was a hopeless cause anyway)

Today between two teenage boys

"Why are we doing this again?"
"Because you're an idiot."
"Oh yeah, right."

Wanted to follow them and see what they were planning on doing. You just knew it wasn't going to be good!

but it would make a great video!

OK, this is really something my beloved daughter said Saturday night.

ME: here, taste this, it's rice pudding.

DD: *chew chew* there's too much rice in it. Take the rice out and it'll be good.
