Owl deterrent? THEY'RE BACK and GHO

It's been several months and have only heard them in the distance... BUT... they are back this morning @ dawn and there were 2 perched on the telephone pole right out front of the house. We got a really good look and the are definately Great Horned! Please tell me all that you know about Great Horneds. I've heard that they will hunt in the daylight? True? Any info. will be appreciated. Thanks.
ps: Needless to say, all will stay in the pen today!

They don't like to hunt during daylight because of harassment by crows. That being said if hungry enough they will. I have sustained attacks at dawn, dusk, and on overcast drizzly days. They are preparing to nest now and are very hungry.

Its terrible to have a beautiful pair of predators looming over your birds. I tied many pie tins in different places near my lyer run and the open area where they range. And we retie the tins as needed. But, then, we have spotlights on every night. targeted at different areas anyway.

Is it possible for you to shoot off bottle rockets? My husband and son got a supply when hawks were interested on our back lot. For a couple of weeks they would shoot a couple off at different times of the day near the nest site and they eventually left. None have attempted it since. My husband shoots a few off if he spots any hawk breeding activity.
