oxine... anyone used it?

OK and thank you much, I was wondering about that after researching the uses and how to section about the product.....

X2! The activator fundamentally changes how this stuff works and becomes dangerous for you and your flock. The inactivated variety degrades to salt.

And the activator is seperate? Or is there a activated bottle and a non-activated bottle? And if were not activating the oxine then what is helping with the molds, bacterias, etc? I'm just curious because this would be good for my flock since we use well water.

I'm not chemist or biologist, but, the activator is citric acid, this reaction creates a chemical that becomes much more powerful.

The effectiveness of the oxine that is not negative works to dissolve the bacteria, virus etc, and thus it cannot survive.

Oh and yes, the activator is purchased separately because few people need to use it in the activated way, especially because it is dangerous.

Interesting, thanks....

If you were disinfecting a huge commercial chicken house or your empty coop after a breakout of disease, then you could buy the activator, put on your mask and use it that way. For every day use with your birds, you do not need the activator. It's plenty powerful enough without it.

Oh, and as for why more people don't use this stuff, they don't like the price. For some reason, they're stuck on "it's to clean the waterer" and insist Clorox is MUCH better because it's cheaper. I had that discussion here a while back and got jumped all over because evidently I was the only one in it that felt Oxine was worth using. Glad to see more people are learning about it

I dint get the price issue...i mean sure it isn't 99 cents but it's uses are pretty varied and quite beneficial. Not to mention that a little goes a long way, too.

I'm sold on it. The fact that it is ok to use this stuff by organic farms says to me it's worth the price.
