Oyster Shell Dispenser

You inspired me!
The first of two being built by my resident handyman was finished and hung today..... and meets with the approval of the big girls. This one is for os, the other will be for grit

@Ol Grey Mare how tall is the gap under the plexi? And do you have a photo when it is full? My gap is too small and I'm raking it out till I can take the cover off and open it up some.

If I recall correctly, it's about 1 1/4". It's not full just yet....I took my normal scoop out when we hung it and it barely made a dent in what it can hold and I've not yet made the effort to take more lol

Let me know how it works when full, seems like a big opening...

Edit: mine is 3/8" and that is too small of an opening for sure.

What type of os do you use? That merry play into it. There's the crushed and formed into chalky crumble pieces that looks like chalky white grit and there's the actual pieces of flakes oyster shell (the brand I'm familiar like this is Pacific pearl). I use the latter.

Wow, that's news for me, too. I wonder if there are any additives in the crumble-type of shell?

You all are making my chicken grocery list more difficult LOL.
