oyster shell ?????s

DH brought home a small bag from TSC; said it was $5. I have been saving my eggshells since March when we got the first chicks. Today I noticed the BO and some of the SLW and BR are eating the eggshells and oyster shell SO just maybe I will be finding more eggs in the nest boxes!

Will any oyster shells work here?
We own a waterfront property on a fresh water lake and have tons of clam and or oyster shells wash upon the beach.
If fresh water can I pound and feed them to the birds with same benefit?
