Got my first duck egg today:wee

Do ducks need oyster shell? If so, the same as the chickens?

There is an area in our bird yard where I scatter oyster shell, and an area where I scatter grit. It is either being eaten, or just working into the earth.

Yep! They both need oyster shells! I just put mine in the feed to make sure that they eat it all, and all my money is going to use. They usually get fresh bugs, grass, and clover ( also lots of grit) so I'm not concerned with them not getting enough grit.

Hope this helps!:thumbsup

I keep oyster shell and crushed egg shell in a container that hangs in the run - they eat it when needed.

I have boys too(chicken and duck). Can they eat the oyster shell? Will it hurt them?

We have free range chickens and ducks, so they all eat the same thing. We add oyster shells and poultry grit to they're feed.
I add some grit and oyster shells in with my feed but my feeders are 40 lb feeders. They take what they want. Some people don't agree with this way but it works fine for me.
