I wouldn't add it to the feed. The idea is they eat what they need. If they don't need it, they won't eat it.I have boys too(chicken and duck). Can they eat the oyster shell? Will it hurt them?
I add some grit and oyster shells in with my feed but my feeders are 40 lb feeders. They take what they want. Some people don't agree with this way but it works fine for me.We have free range chickens and ducks, so they all eat the same thing. We add oyster shells and poultry grit to they're feed.
