PA UNITE - egg set 2/8-2/10/13 HATCH-A-LONG

I was checking some last night and...

I dropped 6 eggs!
Two were blood rings, two I hadn't checked yet, but two were developing :(

In my somewhat defense, I have nerve damage in my one hand. Sometimes things slip because I'm not really holding them even though I think I am.

I just closed it up and decided ill wait for another day.

oh no!!

I'm so sorry, seems like everyone's having a pretty stressful hatch!

I'm holding out on candling til this weekend, but I'm really worried about what I'm going to see with the whole thermometer malfunction early on. I've sort of braced myself for losing half my eggs...

Oh dang! Have you ever tried candling by leaving the eggs in the bator and shine the flashlight through the top? Works best with white eggs.

Unfortunately my Bator is a converted mini freezer, so getting in that way is nearly impossible. And what isvs white egg? ;) honestly, some of my eggs are so dark, "I see nothing, nothing". My Candler is a box with a hole and a 100 Watt bulb.

I guess I should post some pictures of the junk I use since I don't have fancy equipment.

So sorry you dropped them, Ray, especially since they're so rare.

I'm not stressing here. Hell, I'm not even paying attention to them. Temps seem to be holding OK, most of what I set are marans so they don't candle very well. Back vents are open, so humidity is what it is. I 'might' candle the ameraucanas next week, if I remember. Or not.

I'm only hatching now to make sure nothing is off with the incubator temps before I spring for shipped eggs. I don't really care if they hatch or not, so they probably all will, just for spite.
