Pacific Northwest Poultry Association double show, Salem, OR Oct 13-14, 2012

This will be my first show. I'm very excited and very nervous all at the same time.
I don't want to make a fool of myself, but I want to learn the do's and the don't. I have questions if someone could help me please.
I know the recognized colors for the Silkies, but I just saw a picture from another show that had a paint silkie take BV.
CAN I show one of my paints or calico's or will I be laughed out the door?







 
You absolutely can show them. When you are filling out your entry form make sure you fill out the variety with "AOV - Calico" or "AOV - Paint" as well as whether it's bearded or non bearded. Non recognized varieties can be shown, and win BV, they just cannot be considered for BB or above. :)
 
Well, our entry forms got one entry lighter today. I went out to feed and noticed that there was some blood on the head of my son's white showgirl pullet. I've had the pair of showgirls housed with 2 other birds that they've been with since they were tiny...yes, I know better...sigh...she'll be alright, but there's no show in her immediate future, they got her good. I separated out the cockerel so he doesn't get it next. He'll be at the show. He's GORGEOUS...well, as gorgeous as anything naked necked can be anyway...LOL

NN and GORGEOUS just can't be used together. How dare ya??? but tell G sorry about his bald chicken. Hey wait just look at my head !!!! Bald IS GORGEOUS !!!
