Paid For It's Self Today

Remington Model 700. With a Burris Signature scope on it. Bought it from a family friend who is huge in hunting and shooting.

Got a Remintong Model 780 .243 that I normally hunt deer and antelope with. Nice little gun there too.

Never heard of a 780. Is that a new model, old model or a misprint?

I used to do a LOT of shooting. I believe the current Savage rifles with the AccuTrigger are by far the best buy out there. Gun shops here sell them for around $525.00. The Accutrigger has been the greatest innovation in bolt-action riflery since the Mauser! I had guns that cost waaay more than any Savage. But none of them can out-shoot the Savage! If all you are gonna shoot is predators, a .223/.243 is a great choice. If you're looking to put meat in the freezer, choose a larger caliber. Having said that, my brother put tons of meat down with a .243 over the years. Ammunition for a .223 can be had very cheap due to it being the current military round.

I have a Remington .243 and I love it. It puts deer down with no problem. I actually have a child's model, because I'm a petite woman, and it fits my 5'2" frame and T-Rex arms perfectly! LOL

Sorry misprint on my part it is a 788 Model.

Wow, there's a welcomed blast from the past. The Remington 788 was introduced as a plain-Jane shooter in the early 70's as cheaper alternative to their Model 700. It was chambered for the .222 Remington and the .308. I bought a used 788 in .222 in 1975 and have used it over these many decades to shoot groundhog, crows, and paper targets. On my keychain, I still carry a quarter that I shot in 1980 which has three holes out of three that I shot at 100 yards with this rifle using my own 50 grain handloads. I still use it today and it's as accurate as ever...although the abilities of the shooter may be falling off a bit......

My Ruger finally paid off this week. We finally got the vermit that has been demolishing my garden. Notice the cucumber leaf still in it's mouth?
Woodchuck belly up. Head shot at about 200 ft.
