Linda, thanks for sharing. I almost bought grey for the outside of ours. I like the contrast of the dark roosts against the white. That's sort of what I'm going for too.

packmomma, I would love to see yours if you have pictures.

We were busy all weekend starting painting and cutting and getting things done! I started the trim and roosts painted already, but have to pick a main colour now. Anyone good with picturing how a finished product will look?

These are the two I'm considering for the inside walls, the dark brown 2x2 is the colour of trim, roosts, and nest boxes, and the back wall by the roosts.

I really like the dark orange/yellow colour, but I'm worried it will be too loud and bright. I painted a milk crate we got dark green and realized that most of my colours are very sunflower-y.

One of my favourite flowers! If I was artistic I'd paint a sunflower mural on one wall or on the door or something.

The ceiling is white. The part of the back wall that hasn't been primed will be sheathed (easier to clean) and is where the roosts and nest boxes will be. The sheathing as well as the roosts and boxes will be dark brown. I also plan to paint the timbers around the bottom dark brown too.

Here is the inside of mine , peruvian orange , apple green , and barn red complete with a white chandelier , chicky pillows and kelly green chair .

.The D'uccle girls have lived here for about three months and not once have they pooped on their chair . I have dusted it off a few times . The roosts are also painted the bright green with a poop board underneath , the back wall is painted and has a white glass board behind that for accidental poop splashes . Most of the poop lands on the poop board that also is lined with the glass board for easy cleaning .

Our coop was done on the cheap, so we used extra deck staining for the outside and leftover house paint for the inside.

I love your coop. I saw another thread with it and it provided a lot of inspiration for how we're going to lay ours out. I was considering using leftover house paint, but our kitchen (light green, I actually love the colour, and now I'm rethinking not using it) is eggshell base and the bathrooms (which are semi-gloss) either don't have enough left or aren't colours I'd like in a coop. The Oops paint we got was only $18 for 3 gallons though, so that works too.

I was looking at the oops paint at my home depot today and all they had was eggshell I didnt buy wasn't sure if it would peel because it wasn't exterior. would this work

You all have me inspired with your colourful coops though. I'm considering painting the studs one colour and the walls behind them another.

Mine is "clear blue sky" exterior semigloss everywhere except the ceiling (it's grass green -- leftover paint from previous homeowners). I wanted a light color on the walls to reflect some light since the coop is in the shade but there wasn't enough paint in a gallon for the whole space. Since chickens poop more horizontally and downward, I decided that the ceiling was the lowest priority. So far, it looks gorgeous. Of course, there aren't actually chickens in there yet...

OH, and I primed the whole space with good quality primer because I absolutely hate scraping peeling paint.
