Pale comb and yellow, watery poop

Unfortunately prognosis not good. She is not internally laying but is extremely jaundiced and has a very enlarged liver. So she has liver disease. Nothing do do for her. She is eating and drinking so at this point I am just keeping her inside so she is comfortable. I know I could have just put her down today but honestly I am not ready for that. I have gone through so much death with my chickens over the past 4 years. I am exhausted from it. The vet said he would try to research some things and see if there is any sort of supplements that would help. He said she could live for days or longer. Has anyone ever had a chicken diagnosed with a diseased liver? I have read that maybe Di-Methox Sulfadmethoxine could help? Anyone have any knowledge of this?

So sorry :hugs
I agree with staceyj, good on your vet! And we definitely appreciate your sharing of the info, especially in the face of it being bad news.
Hoping for some miracle.

So sorry! Is her skin yellow? Ask your vet about trying Denamarin and/or milk thistle.

Yes, her skin is yellow. What is Denamarin?

I’ve been giving her oatmeal mixed with apples and blueberries thrown in, also mixed a little nutridrench in with it. I’ll tell you one thing, she loves those blueberries!

There is a person on BYC that took their turkey to UC Davis and to Dr. Speer at the Medical Center for Birds and one of those prescribed Denamarin for the liver problems the turkey had.
Interesting! I think it certainly would be worth a try. I will text my vet tomorrow to ask about it. Their office is closed on Sundays but maybe she could give me a prescription for it to pick up at my dogs vet that is open on Sunday!

Also google milk thistle. That you can get OTC at any pharmacy.
