Pale comb and yellow, watery poop

She has since pooped a couple more times. It is not nearly as yellow. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow. I honestly don’t know how long she has been pooping like that as I have 28 chickens.

:eek:That I'm sure is egg. I know this sounds crazy but you should have dropped it in boiling water to be sure . Glass jar five minutes in a microwave and drop it in . you will know instantly if it is egg . Frist question is are you sure of her age ? Next question what time of the year was she hatched ? and the last question is she still alive now ? . I would get some antibiotics in her If you haven't already . The egg in it's self doesn't bother me but the age does . All I can do is wish you luck and hope she makes t trough this .

Good luck at the vet. I would have them check for internal laying based on what you've said here. They may be able to drain her abdomen to give her some relief if that's what's been going on.

However, if it is internal laying, she would continue to do so unless she was stopped, which would require either a hormonal implant or for her to be spayed, both of which are costly.

Hopefully it turns out to be something easier to deal with, but I would definitely float the possibility to the vet and see what they say.

And make sure this vet sees chickens regularly, or at least birds. They probably won't be much help if they aren't an avian veterinarian.

I do have a pretty good vet. She is a “farm” vet so treats chickens. I am worried that she most likely is internally laying from the sound of everyone’s opinions. I looked back on when I ordered her and she is exactly a year and a half old.

Glad you can take her to the vet. Please let us know how it goes. :fl

Unfortunately prognosis not good. She is not internally laying but is extremely jaundiced and has a very enlarged liver. So she has liver disease. Nothing do do for her. She is eating and drinking so at this point I am just keeping her inside so she is comfortable. I know I could have just put her down today but honestly I am not ready for that. I have gone through so much death with my chickens over the past 4 years. I am exhausted from it. The vet said he would try to research some things and see if there is any sort of supplements that would help. He said she could live for days or longer. Has anyone ever had a chicken diagnosed with a diseased liver? I have read that maybe Di-Methox Sulfadmethoxine could help? Anyone have any knowledge of this?

So sorry! Is her skin yellow? Ask your vet about trying Denamarin and/or milk thistle.
