Sometimes they will even make multiple pips, before starting to zip. You should probably be safe to leave it till morning. But if you get nervous and it seems to be struggling, then just continue where it should zip and remove the “cap”. The end of the shell.

Is it just resting or can it not zip

I feel your pain. Mine were late too, my first duckling hatch.

I ended up helping all four of them, some more than others. They all made it....lol. They are all loud messy brats being transissioned to the barnyard.

It was very scary. I was trying not to get attached. They were all twitchy when they finally came free of the shell. One took a day or two before getting stronger. I gave it a sip or two of sugar water to help it along.

I know how stressful this is! Hang in there...is the membrane super thick and stretchy? I couldn’t even tear it, I had to use snippers.

How long since it hatched? It’s tough getting out of that tiny egg. They don’t all jump up and run about, so just give it a little time.
