GladClip feathers away from the wound, clean it out, & put Triple Antibiotic ointment(Non Pain Relieving), on it to keep it moist. Repeat 2-3 times a day, or once a day if you don't have the time.
Make sure it's air healing, no wrapping/Bandaging.
If you're concerned about his flock mates pecking at the wound, you can crate him with the flock, or dye the wound blue with food dye.

If the ointment contains a pain reliever with anything with Caine in the name it's toxic to birds.Glad

Only about a week old. Any reason the pain relieving one shouldn’t be used? Thankfully hers isn’t that big (think the size of a canine tooth grazing it) and the other chicks can’t see it because her feathers hide it currently. I think I can lay the feathers back enough to dab on some ointment.
Just applying the Antibiotic ointment, or even petroleum Jelly will work. What's the best way to keep it moist? @MysteryChicken
Goodness! Would A&D ointment be okay for now?If the ointment contains a pain reliever with anything with Caine in the name it's toxic to birds.
Is it none Pain Relieving?Goodness! Would A&D ointment be okay for now?
Yes as far as I can tell. I didn't see any with those ingredients and it didn't claim to. I went ahead and put some so it would have some sort of barrier. Is it none Pain Relieving?
