Panicking! Scalped chick!

Clip feathers away from the wound, clean it out, & put Triple Antibiotic ointment(Non Pain Relieving), on it to keep it moist. Repeat 2-3 times a day, or once a day if you don't have the time.

Make sure it's air healing, no wrapping/Bandaging.

If you're concerned about his flock mates pecking at the wound, you can crate him with the flock, or dye the wound blue with food dye.
Glad

Glad you guys could come to the rescue for original poster…I came on here because my chick got a laceration between her neck and wing…my dog tried to eat her while I was holding her 🥺🥺! Only about a week old. Any reason the pain relieving one shouldn’t be used? Thankfully hers isn’t that big (think the size of a canine tooth grazing it) and the other chicks can’t see it because her feathers hide it currently. I think I can lay the feathers back enough to dab on some ointment.

If the ointment contains a pain reliever with anything with Caine in the name it's toxic to birds.
