Who knows if this will catch on at all, but I wanted to create a thread for parents. I am a new mom myself, and I think it would be nice to have a place to talk to others (particularly others who also have livestock to care for in addition to their children) who are parents about the various challenges and happy moments that come along with parenting. It would be nice to have a place to go for advice.

Feel free to use this thread as such! This is for parents of all ages of course, and you are welcome to share random stories and photos if you're comfortable with that.

So who here is a parent?
What are your best pieces advice for new parents?
What are some tips and tricks you might have for balancing care of the child/children, your livestock/pets, and household chores. Those are some of my main challenges right now!

Feel free to post anything related to parenthood here. :)

What perfect timing! We are expecting our rainbow baby boy in January, he'll be my first. 😁 I am about 23 weeks.
Unfortunately we don't have any livestock at the moment - I had chickens in Ohio, but moved to Wyoming and got married, so it's not yet in the cards for us since we're just in the suburbs. We do have a massive, unmanageable puppy though. 😂

Edit: And I see that you're in Ohio, how neat!

Ooh, congrats!!! That's so exciting. :) We just had a little girl in July. Are you starting to prepare the nursery and stuff? Will you have a baby shower?

And yes, I'm from Ohio! :) Where did you live in Ohio?

Hello fellow parents of humans and birds 👋. I have a big brood of babies and birds.
I'm happy to share hints and tips that I've learned over the years. Congratulations on your pregnancies!!!! Nothing beats being a parent IMHO.

Tip 1. Get as much rest as you can whilst you're pregnant.
Tip 2. Follow baby influencers with a pinch of salt.
Tip 3. Don't worry none of us know what we're doing.
Tip 4. No-one in their right mind expects you to have a clean home, perfect hair and make-up for the first (at least) 6 months post birth. If they do ditch them.
Tip 5. Take all the help that is offered bc your home will be a mess.
Tip 6. You do NOT need 1/2 the baby junk on the market. Babies need love, warmth, security, consistency, food and lots and lots of nappies.
Tip 7. Second-hand is fine, except mattresses and car seats.
Tip 8. Baby carriers are awesome.
Tip 10. Buy an all terrain pram if you are outdoorsy. They are more expensive but worth every penny.
Tip 9. Breast, bottle or combination feeding are all valid options for feeding your baby. People will try to force their feeding opinions onto you. Do what is best for baby and you.
Saving the best for last
Tip 10. You are doing an amazing job growing your baby/ raising small humans. Your standards may have to slip a bit for the foresable though. Prioritise yourself and baby, then the livestock, anything else sentient after, and home economics after that.
