Parish Council Treating Geese Poorly

Has to be some way to raise awareness of the plight of these geese, See if you can get the RSPCA to actually come out to the village and see whats going on.. This is pathetic.

I have read through this whole thread and to me these geese need to be taken away from this area period.
The RSPCA just need to go and take them away give the Council a hefty fine for neglecting the geese and ban them from every having geese there again!!!!!

I so agree with you RURU I wish they would actually go out to the village and see for them selves what is going on and listen to the public who cares about these geese. It's heart breaking.

Oh please, what a load of bs come on the only people these Geese are treated badly is by the lady who decided to live in the middle of the green which has a history of animals dateing back over 100 years. Please read the facts first. So the Geese that are very happy and roam free like any animal should.....

Proof? pics . fresh water and feed protected from passing cars when they have to cross the road? just because someone has a history of having animals for over 100 yrs doesn't mean the quality of life the animals had was good. Sounds like folks in the village are concerned for the welfare of these geese.

The Geese have lived on the Green for 40 years and at one point there was over 40. If a dog attacked the Geese the owner of that dog can been charged as this is against the law. To pen the bird you would need 4 square metres per bird to comply with Defra laws to be able to call them free range, this pen would have to be moved every month to comply with defra laws. This would then be animal cruelty to pen and stress an animal that was perfectly happy and content and allowed to roam like it should. The geese are not domestic pets. They are very happy animals who roam free and enjoy life. Now these animals woddle across the road so if a car can't be bothered to slow down then the drive should be arrest by the RSPCA for animal cruelty. If they had no food or water they would be dead and not looking the happy healthy bird they are. It is a joy to see the Geese roam the village.

I can see this going on for ever.. both sides have a point.

Well things have got more interesting.

Turns you Beyton Parish Council broke the law (Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) when they released the geese on the village green. Not only that but they were informed about the law and continued anyway. They also claimed that they were not going to spend public money on releasing the geese. After looking through the public audited accounts that turns out to be another lie.

Here is the video explaining the law that they broke and the money that they have spent.

Oh and just to point out another lie

"The Geese have lived on the Green for 40 years"

They haven't lived on the village green for 40 years, they lived on a farm with a farmer providing food, freshwater and shelter. They would sometimes visit the green to graze. The farm is now a housing estate.

Here is another video showing how Beyton Parish Council are still ignoring concerns from villagers about the treatment of the geese going into the winter months.

There diet is not being supplemented as it should at this time of year. Why is the council making blatant lies by stating that the geese have fresh water from the stream during the summer months?
