Part of Comb Almost Sliced Off- HELP

No, the sharp part goes along the back up and down, so it is pressed against a wall and cannot be touched.
Just look out for dried blood anywhere there’s something possibly sharp.
She probably found some way to use her bird brain to get hurt.
They do that too much lol
Okay, so sharp shears, cornstarch/flour, and neosporin?
Can just use sharp scissors if that’s easier. I would wash it then immediately with saline and/or iodine. You can use ice to help with bleeding too.

Make sure you disinfect EVERYTHING you use before. Whatever you use to cut needs to be absolutely sterile.

Oh and yes, apply Veterycin if you have it plus definitely the neosporin. If it were my bird, I’d keep her inside for a few days to ensure the wound has a chance to heal some before it’s exposed to other birds.

I would, if we didn't have multiple rainstorms today. Of course one of the days Texas decides to have rain. 🙄🤣

Yes, yes they do lol

My sharpest scissors are my kitchen shears or some animal processing scissors, I can cut bone with those things.

Is there any way to make the disenfectant at home so that I don't have to wait longer to cut it off and risk her getting pecked on?

Do you have rubbing alcohol at all?

Today my hen somehow ended up getting the back of her comb almost fully cut off. It looks like a clean slice and was alreasy clotted when I saw it.

I don't know how she cut it like this. My flock has an acre to roam. And there is nothing around thst can cut her like that. There is no blood on anything.

She does not seem to care about it, but it does not look to pretty. It flops around as she walks- will it fall off or stay on forever? The part hanging to the side in the pic is the part of her comb that is almost detached.

How do I help her get better? Should I seperate until she heals? Please help me help Cuddle Bug!
Swab with a bit of chlorhexidine, cut off the hanging part with a sharp pair of scissors or razor knife.
Sterilize the scissors this can be with bleach, boiling water or alcohol.

A comb will bleed quite a bit. Apply pressure, this should slow the flow in a few minutes. Chicken blood will clot fairly quickly. Dab on a bit of triple antibiotic ointment if you wish. Don't remove the blood clot.
Leave her in her own cage overnight to let the wound scab over, then put her back with the flock.

Observe to make sure the others aren't picking at her.

Will do! I will let you all know how her operation goes tomorrow!

Mine did the same thing sticking her head through the chicken wire and slicing the back 2/3 of her comb off. It did not die off, but turns grey frequently so must have less blood flow. Here’s a pic post “Stupid Pet Trick”
