Partridge Plymouth Rock's

Hello,

I have been a member here since early/mid December. It has been great!
During the time here, I never really see anyone talk about Partridge Plymouth Rock's.
Barred rocks are the new style of this year and I hope the Partridge will be soon.

I have had three hens of that breed.
Sadly, 2 had passed away a couple years back.

The last one standing,
is a little timid but sweet.

I think of the breed as shy but if you don't hold them by their wings, then they'll be fine.
My Dad has always wanted a rooster Partridge Plymouth Rock too.

I would love to here your view on this breed.
And pictures or stories are always welcome!

I love this breed and I would like to see it more 'fancy' as we call it.

Plymouth Rock is the breed we'd decided on. Oddly enough the variety we have was my third choice. Partridge was second after Barred. Could not get the stock I wanted of either of those varieties. There are not many quality flocks of any of the varieties excepting white.

It would be nice to see more people working on classic american breeds. It seems when people transition to breeding they gravitate to the new, land race birds are very popular of late. Partridge is a striking color and as a variety needs a lot of work. We're working on the Silver Penciled.

Yes, I agree people should focus more on American breeds too, they don't have to stop breeding the other breeds completely. But more about the rare breeds that should be brought back a bit.

I like the Barred rock but they don't catch my eye as much as Partridge.

They are a great bird to add to any backyard flock!
