My birds say no fair, they're left to deal with -40 temperatures by their lonesome.Thank you for the suggestions! Maybe we can make it work after all... Our friend who is very experienced with chickens and taught us everything we know about chicken-keeping felt that a trip like this would be extremely stressful for the roosters. But I guess better have them be stressed for a few days and then have a good life then to continue the life they have now, where they are taken good care of but are really frustrated about being cooped up together, away from the hens.
I'd be worried about them getting too cold if left in the car at night. We might wait a little longer until the weather gets warmer. I know chickens can deal with pretty cold temperatures but our chickens are spoiled with heat lamps at nightWe could sneak them into our room in their carrier but they may very well rouse all the guests at 4 am with their crowing!
