Well, eggs didn't fare well that far out..so, I got some chicks. 14 from that very, and I say, very good man Dick. None had died, he had two nice warmers in there, but two were weak. One didn't make it, and one is trying it's best after I have given it some electrolytes today. Here are some pics..if I do this right! Thanks Dick. I know he is out of town right now, but maybe he will see these when he gets home on Sunday.
Some are quite silver, and some darker..I didn't get the more silver ones on here, maybe you can pick them out in the group shot. So, does the darker and lighter color mean anything? Like, the more silver now, the more silver later? They have one of the cutest faces of any babies I have hatched, just a different look about them..sweet. I am hoping for that sweet face to mean, sweet personality. )
They are lacing out quite nicely now..at what I am guessing them to be a week old around now..the 23rd.

I don't know that the lighter color means anything with the partridge, but i have always heard that if a black chicken has a lot of whilte down as a chick, they have a very brilliant green sheen to their feathers. Maybe it works the same way with partridge. I dunno? But great looking chicks BTW, really cute little balls of fluff.

This Tues 31st will be the Day!! Our friend is fostering 4 hens found wandering in her Nor-Cal Suburban town, 2 huge Blk/ Wt Bhramas a dark RIR, and A Bossy litle Auracana. All healthy and laying in loveable makeshift conditions, when they get to our home the coop and run are built & Filled...
But my Dream Chicken... A Partridge Pencilled Red Rock Of Course !! I Just love the Color & Pattern... Breath taking...

First off,

!!! It's a wonderful resource for everything you need to know about chickens.

One thing you will find is that hatcheries often list blue/green egg layers as anything and everything that lays blue eggs! The same hatchery will call them "araucana/ameraucana", which are two very different breeds!

True araucana are rumpless (no tails!) and have funny little feathers poking out of their cheeks.

Ameraucana, the very popular blue egg laying breed, has big beards/muffs on the chin and cheeks.

Easter eggers can be Ameraucana that do not conform to show quality standards, but from hatcheries mainly consist of ameraucana mixed with other breeds.

For this reason, no two EEs are exactly alike! They're delightful to raise since you just never know what color you are going to get. But, point being, your "araucana" is very very likely an EE, and many people on this forum will not hesitate to tell you so - precisely because of the confusion that has developed from hatcheries' careless neglect.

As for the rocks... they are gorgeous and cheeky, and definitely worth the search and wait!!!

Here is a baby from one of those babies up above on this page.. I am pretty sure it's a pullet..I messed up feathers when handling her, she doesn't usually have that one feather hanging there! Better not...! This is one of my favs. from Dick.
Here is a close up of her. The boys have more of a comb, and wattles, and they are turning more red already. Girl right?

They're not partridge but I have always loved the way the silver penciled rocks looked. It's the same patteren, accept the colour is different. Still very beautiful, and it looks to be a girl

Oh dear..I'm on the Partridge thread..sorry! Thanks for being nice, and..for the pullet thought..that's what I want. I've had the Partridge..beautiful bird! All of the rocks seem to be on the large side. My Partridge got quite heavy, and now this girl is getting up there in weight, even at her age.

So how is everyone chickens doing? I have one hatching done and another I am waiting on. These first ones are growing real well and are sold to locals. I will be hatching out till at least June here. But those at that late date will all be for us.

Just picked up my chicks from Dick Horstman made it here in just one day they are so cute right now and I am so hoping to grow out some good ones to go with the trio I have now. Those are old enough to start setting eggs if my part that I need for the sportsman ever gets here I paid for fast shipping where is my thermostat? GRRRRR Dick's birds are very nice and my 2 hens lay okay not as much as my New Hampshires but they give me 1 or 2 eggs a day and take a day off in the week. They are my eye candy and they show people how big real dual purpose chickens are.

I cannot find my other posting... But here is this singleton chick I found right before rehoming it's paired mom and dad. It hatched outside and we have been raising it for about... a week now.

Frist pic (3 pics in one) Is about 3 days old. The other pics are at a little more then a week old.
