Partridge Rock Thread

The show standard is the same for all colors in body type. The only differances is feather colors and pattern. So look to white rocks for body type as they are common. On Dick's large fowl page there is a male PR next too a female PR. If you do not have the Standard of Perfection I would get one as it goes into more detail than a picture will online.

Hi all,
I posted quite a few pages back about my "partridge rock" look-alike that has feathered shanks. Today I finally got a picture. Not a great picture but a picture. She is my shyest bird and following her around with an iPad apparently creeped her out big time. LOL

She came to me with a batch of pullets from a friend who incubated more than she needed but got those eggs from another friend who is a breeder of Marans. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble contacting the original breeder to find out if she has Partridge Rocks, but still suspect that this is a Marans x PR. She's my favorite hen and lays nice rosy tan eggs (not Marans-like) 5 days a week. I have two other pullets from that bunch that are full Marans and lay chocolate and choco-speckled eggs, but less frequently.

Thanks for checking her out. How close to PR does she look to you, other than the shank feathers?

My guess is a mix between a Brahama and a Straight combed breed, like a sussex. Brahamas have feathered feet and lay a brown egg. Sussex breeds have the type of neck feather colors she has.

She is beautiful!

I am seeing gold whynadotte here not PR. The penciling is wrong for PR.

Please post pictures!

I'll have to see about getting some pictures of my Ideal ladies. I've been told the color is off on them and they are lacking good pattern but I love them for there broodiness. 4 of my 5 tried to brood last year, only let 1 set and she did a wonderful job.

This year I hope to stagger some hatches to go on during our county fair and let people see how mommas do it!

Hi Ron, you may have seen mine already but here they are again.

I'm guessing they are 8 months now.

They are very nice looking!

My two are Hatchery Large Fowl from McMurray. They have not gone Broody but are crazy friendly.
