Glad I asked! Had no idea there could be such a difference in male vs female lines.It depends if they are hatchery stock or heritage stock. Hatchery stock feathers out faster. Heritage stock can take longer than 16 weeks to feather out. It also depends if you have a male or female line on the males. My female line males do not turn black till after 16 weeks. My male line males are black 5 weeks. There are alot of differances in the stock and lines.
