Partridge rooster

Handsome fella... love to see the dark combs. Who says they can't free range with a little snow on the ground! :love

I'm currently working with bantam wheaten in Ameraucana. I thought "wheaties" should have the reddish triangle at the end of their wings. The Marans was the description I found to use an example, but should still be fairly relevant.

This photo from google shows the wing triangle I'm describing..

Please note that I'm not saying your sisters' isn't wheaten, I have culled many a bird for not enough color there. Huh... as I'm typing this and was JUST getting ready to ask is the bird actually crowing (doesn't appear so),or is that a genetic term I'm not familiar with.. of course noting your inclusion of the symbols.. (not sure if there's a term, maybe sequence?).. and it dawned on me... crow wing... would probably explain the black wings I talking about! I had HEARD the term crow wing before but not yet made a connection. (must learn more)

Now to go even further... your saying it can both partridge AND wheaten PLUS crow wing?! :th

Thanks for sharing. :pop
No, not a combo of three, but Wheaten, & Crowwing can be on the same gene.
Crowwing is a mutation of the genes that create the DuckWing triangle seen on the wings. It's a type of extension of black, to make it more simple.

We got the Partridge Silkie from a SQ Silkie breeder in Ohio as hatching eggs.
I also have a blue partridge who has orange wing triangles.

He's Wheaten based. Wheaten usually shows as a fiery orange, but can be Red, or occasionally buff when diluters are involved.

Thinking about it a little more, I think I looked over him wrong. Thinking he may actually be: E^R/e^b, Di/Di.
Buff, Partridge Crowwing.
Nevermind, I goofed in the previous post. I'm talking about the first one I posted.

So given what you replied are these gray are blue they are 4 months old the hen in first picture and the partridge rooster in bottom left of second picture

Both look blue based to me.. especially when you compare to the nice black ones.

Blue, I found in Silkies to be all over the map since so many folks are breeding BBS... I didn't find a lot of consistency in the blue shade. Some nice, most too dark and almost indiscernible at hatch from black. I was working on getting nice blues, easily distinguishable. And it really clued me in that BBS is not as simple as we are first led to believe... at least in regard to quality and consistency that I was looking for. It was going pretty good before deciding/realizing Silkies (& Marans) weren't my passion.. Getting nice blues is a great goal though! Don't forget to keep combs dark when ya can... that's one of the things I see often needing work in the partridge Silkies. :fl
