Hi there!
I could use some help with my first two partridge silkies. I was told they were 3 months old and one male one female. However, upon returning home I realized how difficult it is to truely sex silkies before 6 months. Despite that, I'd figure I'd give you silkie experts a shot at it! My first question is, is it possible these two are siblings? It seems to me they are too different in size and feather development at the head to be, but maybe that's because one's a cockerel and the other is a pullet? Secondly, any guesses as to the sex? I've read something about a lot of penciling on the feathers indicating female? If so, I'd guess the larger of the two is a pullet. Is it possible I have two roos or two hens? Let me know what you think!

Here are the two of them together you can see the size difference pretty well:

Pretty Partridges! If I had to guess, and I'm new here, I'd say Big was a roo, and small a pullet. As for the size difference, I have one in my first ever clutch of Silkies, that is half the size of everyone else. Not a thing wrong with her/him, quite fiesty, eats well, and plays with the rest of them. Born on the same day...just smaller.

Like I said, I'm new, so don't take anything I say to be Gospel! To me, the comb on the big one looks more rooish. The smaller one just has the "look" of a pullet to me. These guys change so much day to day, week to week, so like most say, until they crow or lay, you never know for sure.
