However, upon returning home I realized how difficult it is to truely sex silkies before 6 months. Despite that, I'd figure I'd give you silkie experts a shot at it! It seems to me they are too different in size and feather development at the head to be, but maybe that's because one's a cockerel and the other is a pullet? Secondly, any guesses as to the sex? Pretty Partridges! If I had to guess, and I'm new here, I'd say Big was a roo, and small a pullet. As for the size difference, I have one in my first ever clutch of Silkies, that is half the size of everyone else. Not a thing wrong with her/him, quite fiesty, eats well, and plays with the rest of them. Born on the same day...just smaller.

How about the penciling though? It seems like the big one has a lot and the little one doesn't have any.

Like I said, I'm new, so don't take anything I say to be Gospel! To me, the comb on the big one looks more rooish. The smaller one just has the "look" of a pullet to me. These guys change so much day to day, week to week, so like most say, until they crow or lay, you never know for sure.
