I got my blue partridge girl by breeding a Lavender Rooster over a Buff Hen. Here's a picture of her.

Pennie, your girls are gorgeous!!! Love them and congrats! Sorry I haven't been on much but I am doing a long distance move this weekend and have been busy packing and trying to figure out the best way to transport 30+ chickens about 800 miles!!!! I know it is over 30 but I stopped counting at 30 and what the DH don't know won't hurt him! LOL Oh, the 30 doesn't include chicks either! LOL
Love your girls!

The best I could come up with is in crates, cages, carriers in the van with DH because I don't think the uhaul will allow enough ventilation for them. I will drive the car with the dogs. One good thing, silkies are smaller and from what I read, you don't want to allow too much room either because of them possibly getting hurt but not packed too tightly so they overheat. We are making the trip at night so they will be normally asleep most of the way anyhow. It will be one smelly trip! LOL I think I will put all moms, babies and broodies in a large dog crate and try to pair up the rest of who gets along with who. My one roadblock is a leghorn with 2 chicks...she is bigger than the silkies so I am not sure if I want to put her with the standards or in with the silkie moms...I am leaning to a small carrier by herself with her chicks right now.

Thanks! We are pulling a uhaul trailer, do they maybe leave the door cracked just a bit to have airflow? It would be nice and dark for them in there to keep them quiet and more relaxed I would think.???

it might have vent in top but as long it not hot hot out side and trailer dosent sit very long it be ok,the one people i know have also set up with rabbit 24by 24 rabbit cages attached to the walls it alsome

Thanks! I will check it out when we pick it up tomorrow to see if there are vents. I will let you know how it works out. It will be an adventure I am sure. The majority of the trip will be done at night and a few morning hours at the most. I will have to keep an eye on the temps for the way down. It is cool up here at night but I am sure not so much in Georgia.

Forgot to add that it normally takes about 13 or so hours but I am anticipating it to take longer pulling a trailer. So mayb like 15 or more hours they would be in the trailer.

walmart had small badery opersted fans i see freind us then on there cages at fair

Great idea! Thank you!!! I hope they do have vents because I think it would be a calmer ride for them than being in the van with the noise, light, etc.
