so cute!
Hey guys.
I posted this chick on the silkies breeding, genetics and showing thread awhile ago.. Thinking it might be a silver partridge or gray partridge .. Or something close to it..I do not know the parentage on them but kinda came up with this on the calculator
Splash E/e^b male and white rec E/e^b female
I get
Pullets: blue patterned gold partridge/brown
Ratio = 1/8 = 12.5%, minimum of animals to breed: 8
Pullets: blue unicolor•E
Ratio = 3/8 = 37.5%, minimum of animals to breed: 3
Cockerels: blue patterned gold partridge/brown
Ratio = 1/8 = 12.5%, minimum of animals to breed: 8
Cockerels: blue unicolor•E
Ratio = 3/8 = 37.5%, minimum of animals to breed: 3
And this is one of the guys I got from that breeding. Not sure what title I should give
on this color..
It looked like this when it was a chick
And now I have this new little one and has a very pretty color not sure what it will be.. Any thoughts? (From same breeding splash male and white rec. female)
I am breeding blue and splash silkies but I rescued the white silkie and she's in with the bunch.. I only have 1 silkie pen so it's not like I can separate her. I'm just trying to work out what color they produce (mutt color most likely)
No clue on the colors, I would guess Blue Partridge with serious leakage.
One thing you might want to note - all of them carry one copy of recessive white (split to white) - so bred to each other or to their mother (if a boy) will give you white birds again. If you sell them - make sure to tell the people you sell them to if they ever decide to breed. That one copy can do strange things to the coloring even though it is not supposed to show with one copy... I just was reading about a breed that it requires one copy of the recessive white to give light golden hackles for the UK breedings - without that copy the hackles are too dark.. weird...

You are welcome.
Yes, it is a cutie. I had one that I thought was a light cream color - its turning out solid white! Please do keep us updated on what color it ends up being - very interesting!
