Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Okay, so I posted my chick's pic in the silkie thread and received no response. Figured I would check with the partridge experts. ;)

Here is the baby in question:

It is surrounded by its buff buddies. He has a yellowish head and a silver/blue body. Chipmonk markings and is feathering out as a light grey/blue color with what seems to be barring on the winds (but that changes as they age so I don't know). Any thoughts on color? Grey or silver partridge? Another color? Help! :D

I am not playing on the regular Silkies thread because I haven't read the whole thing yet. I am also just starting out with Partridges myself but I will give this a shot..

I would guess regular Partridge. The yellow head/golden body looks similar to the chick I got out of Brown Chicka Brown Cow's eggs.. and her birds are Gold/Red Partridge coloring. The gold/red is also visible in the chick down over its shoulders. I think the wings are coming in sort of grey/black but the rest of the body shows the golden colors. Keep watching and see what its back, shoulder and chest feathers come in like - that will tell you more.

Of course.. like you said - final molt will tell for sure. However, my guess is Partridge (Gold).

Oh, here's my chick:

I call it "Goggles" because of the pattern on the poof.

Mine looks a lot more yellow in this picture, but I didn't have the camera setup right for indoor lighting to get rid of the yellows. The black chick right below is really black and white.

All of them look to be penciled? Could you take closeups of the silver partridge and grey together? (for comparison)
The ones atop the blue cage look to have a lot of autosomal red. Some of the ones near the beginning of you post look to have a little autosomal red.

OK Sonoran, I'm trying to get close ups for you - and anyone else that is interested (comments welcome!!!). (I have a new camera and I am not real good with it yet.) All these shots were taken this morning in dappled sunlight which makes their coloring look different. They have wet and dirty heads and feet from scratching in their wet food (also sometimes this gets all over them making them very dirty and spotty).

These first two are BFF's and hang out together. I think they are the ones that were on the blue cage.

This is a third that is very similar.

All three.

A light gray and darker with pencilling together:

Here's one that has the autosomal red in it I think you were talking about - I have two with this red - both partridge marked as hatchlings:

Four of the lighter grays (9, 7, 5 and 4 weeks old).

This one looks like splash, but one of the older ones looked liked this also and has lost the "splotchy".

This is one of the very darkest, I believe I have two of these.

I think this is the other darker baby.

Wow!!! Some of the birds. I am SO jealous . I live on the Western Slope of Colorado & have been wanting a silkie for about 9 months. I have to have a hen as the city I live in doesn't allow roosters. Every time I think I have found one somebody beats me to it. At least I can follow this site & get my silke fix that way.

This is my partridge silkie chick.

This is Marly between 4 to 6 weeks

Marly between 2 to 4 weeks

I hatched 4 of Minkie x Jasper babies in the incubator, and the Silkibator has hatched out 5 of 7 (one more sitting on) so far, so here are some baby pictures!

The four inside

Four out and one under the substitute momma.

The Partridge Silkie girl is sitting on the last egg, but when they hatch she wants nothing to do with them. First time mom - and doesn't know what happened to her nice warm round things

Fortunately Minnie knows how to take care of them.

And yes, the chicks love the fermented feed. I made it extra wet so they could get some moisture too, until they learn how to drink out of the big fount.

This is one of my new chicks. This one has a darker shade on its back. There is another light chick that really looks buff. This one looks darker 24hrs old Too soon to tell?

Too cute, but too soon to tell. I don't see the penciled eyeliner and back stripes usually seen on Partridge Silkies. It does look closer to the Partridge Wyandotte chick colors - only a lot lighter. It may just be another buff but it has something hidden. It may also be a chick of another color.... I would take progression photos to see what color it ends up.
