Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I have a Silkie that I hatched from some eggs I bought and they were to be partridge/blue partridge. One hatched and it was white and had partridge markings of a grey color. It has since grown up and is white with a grey tinge to it, specially around the butt. I know that it has partridge in it somewhere somehow because it hatched from par tridge eggs and had partridge marking when it was a chick. I have NOW hatched a chick off it. The father was white. The chick that hatched is whitish but mainly lots of grey and almost a buffish brown. There is more color on it then white. It also has soft partridge markings down its back but not really around the face. I really am interested in finding out the genes of the mother. I had thought maybe the white of the father would have covered anything she had genetically but I see I was wrong. Anyone, if you can shed some light on this I would appreciate it! Thanks. I will get pics of the baby up soon. This is some pics that I had taken e awhile back of the mother in question. I had asked before and some told me she was porcelain.

I had more in better light since these are quite dark but I can't find them. I may be able to get some more later though.

This is interesting because I would have guessed the white from the father and the white from the mother would have given you a white chick too.

The only genetic possibility I can come up with from what I understand so far about genetics is you have a Blue or Lavender Dominant White based on Partridge. That white does not add to recessive white so the chick will still have Dominant White but now be split to recessive white. Dominant white can also throw some very different colors like Smokey, Khaki and Dun (with chocolate)....

Would like to see the chick pictures.

Good Gosh!! What is with all of my posts!? LOL! Sorry about that, ya'll? I don't know how THAT happened. Two maybe but three... Anyway, thanks for the reply Chicknmama. I agree. The baby should have been white. I was really interested to know what it would be and was definitely surprised. I am soo sorry but I am not sure I understand the blue or lavender dominant over Partridge. Sounds interesting. I would know more but since I hatched her from bought eggs it is harder. I can get some pics of the chick. I have been meaning to do that. Maybe that will help.

Oh wow! They look beautiful when they grow up! I have two three week old partridge silkie bantams

Here's the "funky" chick that hatched from the white greyish one from above. You can see a lot of buff in it in these pics but it has a smoky look to it like its dirty or dusty. I hope you can see the two lighter stripes on either side of its back. SO now what do you think?

I think I am just as confused as that upside down chick! I had one very similar - it ended up being completely white.

On another note - here is Goggles at 37 days old:

I think it will be white with a tint of that greyish buff as well. I just don't understand what makes it look this way and what the genes are of the mama. So confusing! Thanks for the help though. Goggles is so cute! It really does look like it is wearing goggles!
